Christmas season, that traditional time of year for gift giving, officially starts at sundown of December 24th and ends at sunrise of January 5th. But Black Friday, the day marking the beginning of the gift shopping period, is less than two weeks away.
It will be on November 27th, the Friday right after Thanksgiving. If you don’t know yet what to look for and get for those on your gift-giving list, here are some ideas to help you:
Christmas gifts for the kids
For children, Christmas is the second best holiday, right next to Halloween. With toys and games, you can’t go wrong when it comes to finding something that will make the little ones on your list happy.
From the most sophisticated interactive electronic Star Wars toys to the latest Marvel or DC action figures to the most challenging puzzles, the most realistic model kits to bikes, pogo sticks, Barbie dolls and other timeless classics, there’s always a wide range at all price points to choose from at your favorite department store come shopping season.
Christmas gifts for toddlers and infants
For babies, there’s baby clothes, baby spoons, baby booties, baby rattles and soft toys, bottle sets, bonnets, diaper sets, baby pillow case and linen sets and other baby ware. For those old enough, you can go for a stroller, a walker, a potty training seat or some pre-school toys and gears.
Christmas gifts for teens
For the teens and tweens in the family, you can get them the latest and coolest gadgets and accessories. They’ll love you for it if you gift them with some new smartphone, tablet, game console, or digital camera. Take note though that at their particular age bracket, they can be incredibly choosy when it comes to the particular make and brand of their gadgets.
If your not sure of what they’re after, or if you can’t afford what you think they want, just go for the accessories. They’ll appreciate a classy, genuine phone case more than a knockoff or unheard of make of smartphone.
The same is also true of clothes and shoes. If you can’t get them the real deal, just go for the accessories, say a baseball cap or jersey set of their favorite team, some generic white socks, or a set of handkerchiefs.
Christmas gifts for the parents and grandparents
Parents and grandparents aren’t as hard to please as the teens and tweens in the family. For them, just the thought that you remembered them is enough to bring them some joy and happiness come Christmas Day.
A personalized calendar, some house slippers, pajama sets, coffee or tea sets, a year-long subscription to their favorite magazines, a personalized photo album (this can easily be printed at CVS Photo), a collection of hits from some of the top recording artists of their era, or a cozy recliner are some gift ideas you may want to consider buying them.
Christmas gifts for her
For your female family members and friends, your choice of gifts will depend on the extent of your familiarity with them. For those you know very well, you can give them scents and toiletries, makeup kits, clothing and fashion accessories that will be appropriate for their tastes, personal preferences, age brackets, body types and lifestyle choices.
For those you aren’t so sure, you’ll be better off buying them some generic, one-size-fits-all type of presents like scented candle sets, mugs and coasters with their names or photos embossed on them, subscriptions to popular women’s magazines, selfie sticks, manicure and pedicure sets, among others.
Christmas gifts for him
For your male family members and friends, the same extent of your familiarity with them should guide you in your choice of what gifts to buy.
For those you are very familiar with, you can buy them their favorite cologne or aftershave, clothing and fashion accessories, tools and sporting gears, subscriptions to their favorite men’s magazines, among others, that will be apt for their tastes and preferences, age brackets, body types and lifestyle choices.
For those you aren’t so sure, you’d be on solid ground if you just buy them some generic one-size-fits-all kind of gift.
Christmas gifts for the neighbors next door
For your next door neighbors as well as your colleagues at your workplace, your gym, or at the PTA in your children’s school, you can spread some Christmas cheers by gifting them with some homemade or store-bought traditional Christmas goodies like cookies and pastries, Christmas hams, gourmet sauces, jams and preserves.
Christmas gifts for the boss
For the boss you want to make a good impression with at work, why not gift him with a bottle of his or her favorite wine or spirits, or a pack of premium-quality gourmet coffee or tea.
Christmas gifts for your favorite clients
Traditionally, your Christmas giveaways for your regular customers and favorite clients may include calendars, pen sets, pen and stationery holders, ceramic mugs and figurines, key holders and other novelty items with your company’s name, logo and contact numbers.
Christmas gifts for yourself
This Christmas, why not give yourself a break from your business as usual self. Get yourself a makeover treatment at the saloon or spa. Or, give your place a makeover. It need not even be a complete makeover.
Perhaps a change of curtains and drapes, or a new rug or carpet piece for the floor, or a new wall décor, or a fresh coat of paint will be enough to reinvigorate you and your family until the start of the next holiday season.
