Choose the Best Time of the Day

Some subjects require a certain time of the day for shooting to make their best features stand out. If you are taking the photo of flowers, of course, you’d want to emphasize on the brightness of the different colors and shades. To get the most vivid color separations, you have to shoot during the time of day that’s brightest, noon or close to noon is best.

Now, if you want to shoot mountains or mountain ranges and you want to emphasize their shapes, it would be best to shoot very late in the afternoon when the setting sun exaggerates the different between the mountains and the sky.

Protect the Lens from Sunlight

Great pictures are great because they make you forget that it was taken by a camera lens. Great pictures give you the visual sensation that you are seeing the actual scene with your eyes. When you are taking photos at daytime, don’t let sunlight hit your lens because it will cause flares in the photo and that’s a dead give-away. Cover your lens with your free hand or, shoot from under a shade.

Now, just as you stop to enjoy a great nature scene, you also have to stop if you want to take its photo. Keeping your hand still for quality pictures is hard enough; don’t make it harder by shooting while walking.

Use all Camera Modes

Cameras have two basic modes. Use landscape mode if you want to take a picture of wide sceneries and capture multiple subjects at far distances. On the other hand, use the macro mode when shooting things up close.

Focus on one Subject

Every picture has a main subject. If you intend to take a picture of a tree, fill your frame with that tree and shoot at an angle where there are no branches from other trees or any other things crossing over your main subject from the lens’ point of view.
