You may not be as big as a McDonald’s or Burger King but you can think in their terms and reap the same benefits they are enjoying.
A restaurant’s success is all about the right presentation. If you notice how successful restaurants work, they are providing nothing but tons of photos on how their foods fill the plates and how the juiciness flows out from their beefs and cheeses like sweat from a mailman’s brow.
Here is how you can make people go in your restaurant and order everything.
DIY Photography
It all starts with photography.
There are basically two things you want to do. You want to make your food look big and you want to make them look juicy.
While most businessmen will hire a professional photographer to take a picture of their food presentations, the photo tricks needed to make these effects are really not that complicated as to require anyone to recruit such expensive resources.
With today’s digital cameras that require zero investment for DIY trial-and-errors, anyone can try these professional photography tricks.
Big Food
To make your food presentations big in photos, simply shoot them one by one at close range using a wide angle setting.
When you use wide angled lens setting everything at close center will be exaggerated and everything at the sides will be downplayed. This will create the illusion that the food, say a hamburger, is so big as if it was being shoved straight to your face.
The subject, the hamburger, will be distorted a little. The center part of the burger will be too big and the sides will curve further back exaggerating the depth of the round bun. Again, this is for the visual effect of the burger being really big.
A professional might get the right setting of the wide angled shot right away. If you are going to take the photo on your own, it may take you a while to get the right setting. It might take a while but it won’t take you forever.
Juicy food
To make those juicy oils stand out, you have to play around with the lighting and your camera flash.
You will want to set your lights directly on top of your food presentation. You don’t need special photography lamps. The adjustable lamp shade that you are using on your work desk is enough for this project.
To make those juicy oils stand out, shoot the photo with your camera flash on. This should create enough bounce to make all those shiny parts sparkle.
Fooling around with the angle of your camera lens and lighting will eventually get you the photos that will even make you drool over your own cooking.
And when you do get it right, just set them in menu cards, giveaway promo items like bookmarks and fans and print them over at Walmart Photo or Costco Photo and have them laminated afterwards.
No one can tell they are DIYs. You’ll have a professional presentation like McDonald’s and hopefully, your food will taste as good as they look.
