How to Look Photogenic in All Your Photos
Photo Taking Tips November 8, 2015 Editorial Staff 0
Want to look more gorgeous in your pictures? Follow these steps, advices WebMD, to get photos and selfies you won’t mind being shared and passed around the Internet:
1. Be your natural self but when its picture time, do aim to deliberately smile gently.
When you do this, your face will look relaxed, with your mouth slightly open and your lower lip matching the curve of your upper teeth. This says WebMD is in contrast with the quick smile that spontaneously flashes across your face when you see an old friend.
Though this is the more natural and normal human reaction, when captured on film, you’ll see that your eyes seem to be squinting and that your neck muscles seem to be inordinately tensed.
2. Stand up straight, turn your head slightly and drop your chin so your face is not completely square with the camera.
“Queen of Selfie” Kim Kardashian said countless times that she keeps her chin down while holding the camera up a bit higher than face level to get her best angles. And as with any photograph, it’s the angle of the camera that counts for everything.
For instance, if you lean toward the camera with your head tilted forward, your head will look disproportionately bigger than the rest of your body when viewed on film.
3. For the ladies, wear lipstick for the photo shoot.
Choose one that works well with your skin tone. A wrong color, said WebMD, can make your smile less appealing. Certain colors, like blue-based or pink-based undertones, can supposedly also help hide the yellow stains in your teeth.
4. Visit your dentist or try some whitening product to get your teeth and gums ready for the camera.
Get professional help if you already have some cracked, broken, or missing teeth. If you aren’t too happy showing off your less than perfect teeth, just keep your mouth closed and use your eyes to convey a smile.
Put on your Kim Kardashian duckface look to bring out the cheekbones that will better emphasize your eyes. Try saying “prune” instead of “cheese” before the camera clicks away.
5. Practice your smile well in advance before you get your picture taken.
As WebMD noted, achieving a perfect smile won’t be done overnight. Practice in front of a mirror since, as said before, a natural-looking smile doesn’t really come about naturally. It has to be learned and practiced repeatedly and deliberately.
In addition to those from WebMD, here are some other useful tips on how to achieve a more photogenic smile from Daily Makeover:
6.Close your eyes just before the picture
This is to make sure that you won’t be captured on film with closed or half-closed eyes. Also, look toward a light just before the click.
This trick will supposedly shrink your pupils and keep you from having red eyes in the picture. Use a couple drops of Visine to help your eyes look brighter and more awake.
7. Wear foundation and makeup that perfectly match your skin.
Put on something to make your hair look shiny. Use a blush on. And about five seconds just before the shoot, blot your face with a tissue or napkin, then pinch your cheeks to create that rosy glow effect on film.
8. When you smile, put your tongue behind your teeth.
This will prevent you from making a grin that seems inordinately wide.
9. Using a white or light-colored background can help the camera’s automatic settings find the right color balance that will go well with your natural skin tone.
10. Think of something funny or joke with the photographer.
This will make your inner smile authentic, even if your outer smile is deliberate and practiced.
