A lot of people these days have become fond of taking pictures. If you too are just like them, here are some basic information about photography that you need to know.
Why Take Pictures?
There are a lot of reasons why people take pictures. Some do so to document memorable events in their lives, while others take photos as a form of expressing their innermost thoughts and feelings. However, not everyone knows how to take beautiful photographs by incorporating exposure, light, perspective, focus and composition. Here’s what you need to know!
The Five Elements of Good Photograph.
Exposure
Exposure and brightness are two important things you need to familiarize yourself with if you want to be able to take amazing pictures. A good-quality photograph should have the right amount of lighting and should not also be over-exposed.
When taking photos, adjust the exposure of the camera by clicking on the exposure compensation button that looks like the +/- symbol. If it’s too bright outside, lessen the exposure by clicking (-)
Light
Knowing how to make good use of natural lighting is a must among photographers, professional or not. The “golden hour” is the best time to take photos because this is the time when the sun changes color just before it sets.
Taking photos around this time can give your shots a unique appeal. Not to mention, the photos you snap at this time may also have the shadow or illumination effect.
Perspective
Perspective in photography has something to do with the scope of the photo you want to take. When you use different lenses, you will notice that you will also see the subject in many different ways.
This is why in photography, it is a must to forget about the rules in relation to perspective. What’s most important is you’re not afraid to experiment. You can zoom in or zoom out, use big lenses or small lenses. Remember, the key is to always experiment!
Focus
Focus in photography determines whether or not an image will look blurred or not. For instance, when you take a photo of your subject and the lens is focused correctly, you can immediately press the shutter button and take the image just like that.
However, when the subject is not in focus, you will find that the lens of the camera will move and adjust it until it finds the right focus.
Composition
Composition determines the totality of the image or what you include in the frame and what you choose to leave out. For beginners, the most important thing is to always keep your subject within the frame. However, as you become more advanced, you can already play around with other rules.
Photography is an exciting thing to learn especially if you have the patience to experiment on things. The reward for exerting an effort in learning photography comes when you finally see the pictures in your computer or in your portfolio.
